Research & Planning

Working with Product Marketers and the CMO, I assisted in writing the script and then sketched the storyboard. We had regular checkpoints to confirm my direction along the way, with higher-fidelity rounds as the project progressed — script, sketches, style frames, motion.

Development

Starting with developing an appropriate script, we remained focused on the major goals throughout development: drive interest and excitement while reinforcing benefits, safety and security, Regular checkpoints with Product Marketers and the CMO ensured my designs and plans we aligned with the team's goals.

Typography animations

Without voiceover, a major challenge in this piece was to provide all of the script and story on-screen via text animations. Using high-contrast designs and meticulously timed transitions, I was able to create a comfortably readable story in a visually exciting way.

Custom iconography

A big part of the Shift and IDN brand is the large set of custom icons, the entirety of which I've designed and art directed. These give the brand an elevated feel, using visuals not found anywhere else in the world.

3D shapes and perspective

While the majority of Shift's brand style leverages bold, simple colors and graphics, I wanted to bring an extra layer of polish and pop to this story — a few key moments in the video leverage 3D shapes and perspective to add extra visual delight and interest to the moving pieces behind the story.
